Winshluss (Vincent Parranaud, known as)

Winshluss is a comic book author, painter and film director. He is a major figure in independent comic books. His work, which is pop, hypercoloured and baroque, is a sharp, ironic critique of contemporary society, which he calls ‘joyful destruction'. In 2008, he was awarded a Fauve d'Or at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. He also directs films for the cinema. Persepolis, created with Marjane Satrapi, won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Feature Film category in 2008. He went on to direct Angelo in the Forest in 2024. In 2024, he won the Töpffer Grand Prix for comic books. He exhibits his paintings in France and internationally.
Winshulss said: ‘In my opinion, the purpose of an artist is really to provoke surprise and shock. Even discomfort.'
